Chivalry isn't just dead...its deeply buried!!

I was at my OB's office today for a checkup and as the waiting room began to fill up, I couldn't help to watch the people there in the office. There were a couple of couples, one family and several pregnant ladies. Needless to say, there wasn't a seat to be had within a few minutes. Two different couples walked in about 15 minutes apart from each other. Both of the women were visibly pregnant. Do you know that not a single one of the men in that room offered them a seat? I was so offended!!

A couple of months back, the husband and I went to see Tom Petty (insert HUGE cheesy grin here). We had to ride a shuttle from the parking lot to the actual venue. On the way back, I guess they were too lazy to actually count the number of people that boarded the bus, and the mister and I ended up standing. At the time, I was about two minutes pregnant, so you couldn't look at me and tell that I was pregnant, but that is beside the point. We passed several rows of men and once again, not a one of them offered their seats to me or any of the other ladies that were standing. Wow!!

It makes my heart feel good to know that if that was my husband in either of those situations, he would have gladly given up his seat. I guess I just don't understand what has happened that has made people change so much?!? It makes me very sad...

What are y'all's thoughts??

Shoes....

Shoes are absolutely one of my most favorite things!! I believe that Manolo Blahnik created his "Something Blue" solely to make my heart soar!! And one must never forget the wonders of Mr. Choo.....ahhhhh! Delightful!! ,But, today, I have been thinking about shoes that can't been seen. The ones that each of us wear that are signs of the battles we are all waging inside.

I was getting a prescription filled today, and I was chatting with the pharmacy gal (we are on a first name basis!) and we were discussing the number of people that have medications that they need, but have to do without them simply because they can't afford the co-pays. This just disgusts me. But then I got to thinking about it. I mean really thinking about it. There are so many things that people take for granted. Basic things that people assume they are entitled to just because they were born...like being healthy, falling in love, getting married, having babies, etc....and how looking at people, you have no idea what they doing battle against.

I caught myself looking at the shoes of the people standing in line with me. I couldn't help thinking about that that old line "Walk a mile in someone else's shoes"',,,,and I just want to encourage each of you to remember that those ratty beat up Nikes on the person in line next to you might be carrying their owner through one hell of a battle....

Knowing When to Keep Quiet...

In the last few months, there have been several times where I have had to all but bite my tongue in half to keep from spouting a smart-ass retort to the ignorant statments that I have seen pertaining to politics, healthcare and life in general. But, I must say that I am VERY proud of myself!! Not one time did I match the ignorance with my own sarcastic tone. That being said, I would love to know what goes through people's minds when they post things online that they know are going to get some sort of rise out of people. Why do they act shocked when someone has a differing opinion that theirs? I just don't get it!!

The Magic of "Ordinary" Days...

For someone who spends most of her time arguing with insurance companies/Dr.'s offices/pharmacies, a day relaxing in my flannel pants and my hubby's old hoodie, is like Heaven on Earth!! It's so nice to get a break from reality and just be lazy at home.

A home grown tomato??

I'm sure most people would see the title of this blog and think that I am completely off my rocker. Well, that is probably partially true. I like to be different and I like for people to think, so I figured that I had probably accomplished both of these things with the name of my blog!! In case you are wondering, I got the idea from a Lewis Grizzard quote...(that is displayed at the top of the right column of this blog). Anywho-I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to my blog!! I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!!
